C&F Training coordinate and deliver training in the 5 Step Method intervention in Ireland.  We are proud partners of AFINet and work closely with them to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.

Training Co-ordination and Delivery

C&F Training co-ordinate and deliver high quality training in partnership with currently existing industry experts, nationally and internationally. We have a primary focus on issues which affect people who use substances and affected family members in Ireland. Bespoke Intervention Materials

  • Digital 5-Step Method Handbooks Adapted for people living in Ireland: 

    • 5-Step Practitioner Handbook  

    • 5-Step Self Help Handbook for Family Members: Alcohol, Drugs, the Family and YOU

  • Specific Intervention Exercise materials for Practitioners to use with affected family members.

  • Digital format of Family Member Questionnaire, and support for organisations to develop online FMQ format.

Accreditation Support

  • Trainee access to telephone, email and video conference support during the accreditation process. 

  • Additional IT support for trainees where required to submit accreditation files.

Supervision

  • Request for specific supervision to support the accreditation process for 5-Step Method Trainees following training.

  • Access to facilitated video conference group supervision and reflective practice sessions monthly.

Continued Professional Development

  • Management of 5-Step Method Practitioners to submit competency based continued professional development, attending peer supervision, reflection on ongoing learning, networking or inter-agency developments in line with the 5-Step Method objectives. 

  • Facilitated multi-agency working and networking to strengthen consistent high-quality practice and support practitioner engagement.

  • Promotion of annual events to support ongoing learning and networking in Ireland and internationally including the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Holland. 

Quality Governance Framework

  • Regular communication with practitioners to ensure current materials are being used, based on the most up to date evidence through quarterly newsletters and promote membership to AFINet. 

  • Annual practitioner submission of evidence of practice in the form of a Professional Development Log reflecting their application of the 5-Step Method. 

  • Support practitioners who are out of practice to review their competence and develop their skills and confidence in delivering the 5-Step Method. 

  • Management of a National Register of current and up to date 5-Step Practitioners within Ireland.
